Craft shop open between 10:00 and 14:00

Hi guys!

We finished painting and decorating our craft shop last month. We are very proud to say we painted and decorated with the money earned from our Christmas sales. Louise now has the gates open during the week between 10:00 and 14:00. Because we are still waiting on the Article 21 we are not allowed to put any sign boards up outside. Please pray with us that God will send the needed helpers to get more crafts out and more trainees in.

Lizzy is doing such a great job with the paper crafts and Elfie is now making cement water features. Come have a look! Our next step will be organizing a craft workshop where ladies can come and paint their own ceramics like the bath tubs you see in the picture. If this appeals to you please contact me (Petra) on 012 804 7041 for more detail. The planned pottery classes will take much more preparation so we have decided to put that on ice for now.

Thank You!

A Big thanks to everybody who donated, collected and helped the 16th of December to throw a party for the children of Daspoort.

Each child went home with The Gospel tucked nicely under their arms in the form of a living ball! The Primary school kids also got stationary and the small ones got soft toys. And everybody got a lot to eat- from meat pies to cake and even ice cream on a cone!

Thank you Ounie and Oom Coen for all the hard work through the year. You are worth more than rubies! Also Fritz and Louise who rarely sleeps and always stops for love- your treasures are heaping up in heaven!

Reach out this Christmas!!

Giving it straight...

These are the children that only knows one type of Christmas... “ When the lady of the church comes with gifts and sweets and tells us stories and do fun stuff.”

These are the mom’s that have no food for their Christmas table if the food truck does not come by their homes on Christmas Eve...

Hadassah Ministries runs two outreaches over the Christmas period and is collecting donations for these outreaches. Our goal is to collect R100 per child for each one of the 260 children that are listed on the weekly feeding scheme. Die R100 covers gifts, food for child and parents, decoration and entertainment. The Christmas Eve outreach is dependant on adequate donations and funds.
The Children’s Christmas Party will be held at NG Church Booysens.
Sponsor a child or start a team effort at work, cell or between friends. If you are more hands-on, come join us at the outreach. Feel free to contact us: Louise (012) 331-4032, Petra 083 655 9984

Progress at the house

As the year is rushing to an end, I am relieved to say that we have made progress at Silverton house. First off we are almost done with our crafts catalogue and the website is being finalized this week. I will add the link soon as all is approved so keep us in mind for your christmas card and box shopping!

We have also opened a salon at the house, manned by Anne-Marie, a hair stylist from the Moot area with many years of experience. Her heart is mainly to be a service to the ladies of the Silverton area but I love going to her because she combs in your hi lights pain free and you can add two colors at once for a very reasonable price!!
The room still looks very modest so any interior decorating donations are welcome ;)

The prayer room is slowly but surely getting a face-lift. We have a beautiful new carpet and two classic windows still to be installed. We are still trusting for some ceiling material and a light colored paint for the inside. I'm sure some of you have some ceiling to spare, right? Once you see the carpet and the windows you will have faith too! We where honored to have all the Pastors and dominees of Silverton-Meyerspark area at the house on the 12th of November for community prayer. Thank you all for sharing in our vision and love for our area.

The gift shop is now on floor level... we threw new concrete to even out all the years of las-lappie flooring on the outside of the house. I have some amazing before-and-after photo's on the way in the new year. In the mean time come visit us to see our cards, gift boxes and hand made lamps. Or just come throw yourself down on the royal blue carpet for some He-time!

Phehella Children's home

We are blessed to have Grace and her children from Phehella Children's home here in Silverton were we can love and help from our door steps.

Phehella was started by Grace in 1993 in Mamelodi. She was an abandoned child herself and by God's hand started taking in abandoned and HIV kids.Currently she has 25 children in her care and they can really do with our help in many ways.

Food is always needed, so if you have anything to spare from sugar to meat please send me an e-mail for further arrangements. petravanderwalt@gmail.com. Any children's clothes from baby to 16 years.

Then also, coming up soon will be the christmas party and I am sure we will be throwing one at Phehella. You are welcome to donate clothes, toys or money. You can come wrap presents or join us at the party. I will keep the blog updated on this so watch this space while you let your imagination go.

Ladies Outreach the 9th of September

The 9th of September 09 we had our first Tea Outreach. This date was significant because nine has a prophetic meaning linked to "fullness" and "time for harvest".

Ladies in the Silverton Area were invited to come have some tea and cake for the opening of the Silverton Community House. The previous week, congregation members went around Silverton and placed beautifully made invitations into post boxes. From those invitations only one lady responded. So we went out on the street and invited the ladies we encountered.Louise and Lizzy made little booklet gifts with scripture. We gave it as presents with a rose to show the ladies that they are special to God. We sent with them a few extra booklets so that the Word can be distributed to their friends and family as well.

The ladies that came are all from different walks of life but have one thing in common. They all spoke of loneliness and isolation. We thank God for bringing them in. Three ladies will be joining us every Wednesday Morning for prayer and Bible Study. We pray that these meetings will bring each and every lady closer to Jesus and bring Jesus deeper into Silverton.
We want to thank the Morning Ladies Cell group of Silverton Congregation for being there, bringing treats and helping in various ways.

Craft Shop and tea garden

Since crafts are already running on the premises and we want to add to the craft set, a Craft shop will be ideal to generate a sustainable income. The handy work of trainees, creative church members and Silverton residence can be sold from here. A tea garden can serve as a social place to the congregation, a soul saving tool for the community and will bring more feet from outside to support the Craft shop.

Its a big job to turn a stoep into a craft shop so please come and help dig, move and pray as you feel led by the Holy Spirit. Watch this space!
